You are obviously doing something wrong if you can't afford the lvl 45 armour. I started a Canthan ele, did all the quests up to Seitung Harbour with henchies and my lvl 5 armour, which took me approx three hours. My ele had a ridiculous amount of gold and materials by then, and bought the armour herself without using any gold/materials from my Prophecies chars. I remember the grind at the beginning of playing Prophecies, when I had to save up for lvl 30 armour in Ascalon. IMO, it is much EASIER to buy armour than it was in Prophecies.

As has been said numerous times in this thread, buy the basic armour and wait until Kaineng Centre to buy the armour with plus health/energy mods or whatever. Or, just advertise in towns/outposts that you are buying the items required for collectors armour. It's not rocket science, and it doesn't take a lot of time/money/grind.
